Homemade Chai Recipe

Recipe Ingredients

3 thin slices peeled fresh ginger (1-1 ½ inch diameter)
4 packets SPLENDA® Naturals Stevia Sweetener
12 black peppercorns, lightly smashed
3 whole cloves, lightly smashed
2 cardamom pods, cracked
1 (3 inch) cinnamon stick
2 cups water
2 Darjeeling tea bags
1 cup 2% reduced fat milk

Preparation

Smash or crack spices as directed on cutting board with the back of a large spoon or other heavy object.

Combine ginger, SPLENDA® Naturals Stevia Sweetener, black peppercorns, whole cloves, cardamom pods, cinnamon stick and water in a small saucepan.

Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer 10 minutes.

Remove from heat, add teabags, cover and let steep 5 minutes.

Remove tea bags and strain through fine mesh sieve to remove spices.

Return liquid to saucepan, add milk and heat over medium-low heat until thoroughly heated. Do not boil!

Serve immediately.
