Sucralose, or brand name SPLENDAŽ Brand Sweetener, is discovered in 1976 through a collaborative research project between scientists at Tate & Lyle PLC and researchers at Queen Elizabeth College (London, UK).

From 1990 - 1993, sucralose (SPLENDAŽ Brand Sweetener) receives approval from leading food safety authorities and experts around the world, including the Joint Food and Agriculture Organization/World Health Organization Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) of the United Nations, the Health Protection Branch of Health and Welfare Canada, and Australia's National Food Authority.

In April of 1998, sucralose receives U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for use in 15 food and beverage categories, the broadest initial approval ever given to a no calorie sweetener!

SPLENDAŽ No Calorie Sweetener becomes available to U.S. consumers on a limited basis via the Internet.

In 2004, McNeil Nutritionals, LLC announces a first of its kind innovation in the U.S. Sweetener category with the launch of SPLENDAŽ Sugar Blend, combining SPLENDAŽ Brand Sweetener with sugar.

In 2005, McNeil Nutritionals, LLC transforms the sweetener category again with the launch of SPLENDAŽ Brown Sugar Blend, a first-of-its-kind reduced calorie brown sugar product. It is a proprietary blend of brown sugar and SPLENDAŽ Brand Sweetener. |

In August 2005, McNeil Nutritionals, LLC, modernizes a Time-Old Tradition: School Bake Sale Fundraisers.
