1) The 2,000 extra steps don’t have to be taken all at once. They can be spread out over the whole day.
2) Kids can get extra steps from many fun things besides walking.

Taking your dog for a walk every daydogs need steps, too!
Sitting on the sofa
Walking around while talking on the phone
Living in a messy room
Putting on music and dancing while you clean your room
Heading straight to your favorite store
Walking two laps around the mall before you begin to shop
